PSA: In light of the imposition of martial law in DC, the National Guard troops being sent to the city, and the federal takeover of local police, we have made a field guide to resisting and subverting martial law and totalitarianism. Using strategic non-violence, we can push back on fascism and dictatorship, while pressing our own agenda of New England Independence.
Time and Federal Priorities
It’s no secret that Boston is nowhere near the largest cities in North America. We are slightly below Las Vegas and slightly above Detroit in population. We are not a megacity in the same way that New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago are. The American dictator has stated those cities, plus Baltimore and Oakland, are next to be under military occupation. This gives us time to prepare for when the feds inevitably roll tanks into the Tier 2 cities, Boston included.
What you can do NOW to prepare:
- Join NEIC if you have not already. Get on our mailing list: https://www.newenglandindependence.org/contact/ to be notified whenever we attend or host a protest. Join your local chapter by emailing your chapter leader if you live in MA or CT: https://www.newenglandindependence.org/chapters/. If you live in NH, ME, RI, or VT, fill out the form at the bottom of this page to become a chapter leader to lead protests in your state: https://www.newenglandindependence.org/get-active/.
- Spread the word. Tell your family and friends about NEIC, our plans to protect our people from dictatorship and the threat of martial law. Encourage them to sign up for our mailing list and follow us on social media: https://www.newenglandindependence.org/contact/
- Pack a go bag. In case the feds target you for political dissidence on social media, pack a bag with your passport, driver’s licence, social security card, printed medical records, printed emergency contact list, $1000 in US and foreign currency, and credit cards.
- Tech safety: Get ProtonVPN if you have not already.
- Be frugal: Prepare yourself financially for a general strike when the time comes. Only buy food, health and hygiene products, and tech safety products. That way, when you walk out off work a few weeks or months from now, you will have saved enough money for a at least a week’s worth living expenses. Labour strikes generally last for less than one week, and in recent years most have only lasted for one or two days. If we all walk off work for 1-5 days, we can bring the billionaire and politician class to their knees.
When the tanks come rolling in:
- General strike. The moment you find out that the dictator has sent the National Guard to Boston, walk off work. Encourage your family, friends, and colleagues to do the same.
- Join your local state chapter leader in attending a protest if you live in CT or MA. If you live in NH, ME, RI, or VT, work to organise and lead a protest in your area.
- Safety. Don’t protest alone. Always move in groups and have safe meeting points beforehand. If the police or military illegally try to stop you from protesting, record EVERYTHING.
- Boycott. Billionaires and corporations are complicit. Only buy food, health and hygiene products, and tech safety products.
- Bank run. Everyone take out $1000 from their checking account.
1, 4, and 5 are especially important because they grind the economy to a halt. If the government won’t give us civil rights and freedom, we refuse to work or spend money in the consumer economy. We are collectively more powerful than the billionaire and politician class.
